Make the most of your visit

A little knowledge. A more relaxed visit.

A Turkish bath, also called a hammam or hamam, combines a warm bathing space with washing rituals. Your first visit is easier when you know the usual sequence and confirm the details of your own booking. This guide explains the experience without assuming every package follows exactly the same routine.

1. Arrive and confirm your booking

At reception, check the treatments, total price and expected timing. Ask where to change, what to wear and where your belongings can be stored. Confirm any privacy or therapist preferences before the treatment starts.

2. Warm up and begin the bath ritual

A hammam ritual usually begins with time in the warm bath area. Depending on the booking, an attendant may then perform a kese scrub and a foam wash. A kese is an exfoliating glove; foam washing uses lather as part of the cleansing ritual.

Ask the attendant to explain each stage and tell them if you want gentler pressure. Take a break if the warmth feels uncomfortable.

3. Rinse, relax and enjoy any booked extras

After the bath, allow time to rinse, change and relax. An oil massage or access to other facilities may be a separate part of the visit, so check the order and inclusions when reserving.

A few helpful answers

A comfortable visit starts with clarity.

How long does a Turkish bath visit take?

The total depends on the treatments and any extras you book. Ask the team for the session length and allow additional time to change and relax.

Is oil massage the same as foam washing?

They are different treatments. Foam washing is part of a bath ritual when included; oil massage is a separate massage service unless your package specifically combines them.
